"The Esoteric Arts: A Primer" For any serious student of the esoteric or spiritual path this publication is a must as it brings into consideration foundational concepts and practices upon which further study can be layered. Although titled "A Primer" the Classical Hebrew chapter has more scholarly presentation that most other popular esoteric texts on the market. This publication, although a primer, includes a comprehensive subject matter, from Jungian concepts, Hebrew, Qabbalah, meditation, Alchemy, and ritual, initiating the student's mind into the multidisciplinary labyrinth of required subject matter. This publication is such that beginner and advanced student alike will benefit from its unique introductions, and particularly its rich exposition of the Hebrew language as dealt with specifically and woven throughout the subsequent chapters. This publication is not a read once and put down book, but very much has the hall mark of a handbook, one that will be... More > revisited many times. Frater PDC: Toronto,Canada< Less

"The Esoteric Arts: A Primer" The Esoteric Arts: A Primer contains the basic knowledge lectures of the OMO. These cover a broad range of subjects considered basic to Hermetic Philosophy and the Western Mystery tradition. The book contains several voices, as different lectures are written by different members of the order. While the book calls itself a primer, like many works composed by scholars, it sometimes assumes a certain degree of background knowledge. Some of the information contained within is an excellent basic introduction to a subject, such as the incredible sections on the pronunciation of Hebrew and the introduction to Jungian psychology. Some sections contain material that a true newcomer to the practice of magick might find confusing, such as the introduction to astrology. While the astrology article is fascinating and introduces the symbolism of astrology and in a new light, those who are looking for an introduction to the practice of astrology as it is... More > commonly understood should look to other books. With these considerations in mind, I would highly recommend the text. Students of any tradition will find it an invaluable resource for certain subjects and a refreshing new look at others. The OMO conducts original research and offers new material not found in the ‘yet another magick 101’ books published by the popular press. It should be noted that the Primer offers an excellent and extensive bibliography and recommended reading list broken down by subject. This alone is an invaluable resource for the new student of magick. This book is ‘a keeper’ for those who maintain a serious magickal library. I found new and useful information within and will reference the book in teaching my own students.< Less
