Lecture Recital: J.S. Bach's Use of the Oboes as Obbligato Instrument in the Church Cantatas

This presentation, Lecture Recital No. 1, on the topic, “Johann Sebastian Bach’s Use of the Oboes as Solo Obbligato Instrument in the Church Cantatas,” was to fulfill in part the requirement of 2 Lecture Recitals for degree requirement of the Eastman School of Music, the University of Rochester, N.Y., that of the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Oboe Performance and Literature. This lecture was presented and approved on July 20, 1966. All aspects of the recital are present here other than the audio of the musical performance of the example music.
