Get in, sit down, and read the most addictive words ever written in a story. A good ride without the withdrawals except for when your not reading the brilliant masterpiece from the most talented Otep Shamaya. This is not my first book I have read from her almighty, so after this revengeful rollercoaster ride,I recommend her other collections of poetry, stories, personal journals, and even her own essay blogs....5stars

This is the first book of Otep's I have read, and certainly will NOT be the last (Just purchased Quiet Mountain). This book was amazing, I managed to read it all on my lunch and breaks at work. Once you start the book you will not be able to put in down.. it's that addicting. I love how gruesome some parts of the book was, it was like reading a horror movie script but way better. And I thought it was excellent how she tied some of her songs into the book. This first chapter made me instantly think of "Crush" from the latest album while including lines from "Baby's Breath". It instantly has become the best book I have ever read in my whole life, and I cannot wait til my next one comes in the mail.

Otep's use of imagery and metaphor was and is quite remarkable. All too perfect for reads like this. Her word choices are just as stunning, enhancing that imagery and metaphor I've grown to love so much. She's not only met, but surpassed my expectations of this book. I also can't help but love how she utilized some of her poetry from the Atavist album, Baby's Breath being one of them. Although several of the first few chapters were painful for me to read because of my past experiences, the aftermath was quite delicious. Rich and inventive, and emotionally all-encompassing. I definitely want to read more from Hydra Moonlight.

This book is like a violent drug. I can't stop reading it. Otep Shamaya's creation of the character Hydra Moonlight is deliciously frightening. A true master at her craft. A must read, but not for the weak at heart.
