"Barefoot Review" If you want to keep bees in a natural, sustainable way you simply MUST read this book. It's all about beekeeping for the benefit of the bees not for the benefit of the beekeeper and, as global bee stocks collapse at catastrophic rates, nothing could be more important in the world of apiary. If you're considering beekeeping for the first time then please adopt the methods recommended in this book, and if you're already an established beek please read the book and think about the message.
"the barefoot beekeeper" Hi ive downloaded this book its great though the only problem is that although there is a contents page none of the pages are numbered making it hard to find what you are looking for ! Richard Grant
"The Barefoot Beekeeper - a reader's review" It's a real pleasure to review this book as not only is it a brilliant read but it has given me so much more – thank you Phil Chandler. Having researched beekeeping on the web I was about to go down the 'conventional' route when I stumbled across Biobees.com and the sustainable top bar hive beekeeping option they proclaim. It all made prefect sense to me so I bought this book from which I found out everything I needed to know to easily build, start up and manage two horizontal top bar hives of my own. The book is well written, informative and perfectly illustrated – it gives the beginner top bar beekeeper all the information you need on these hives – enough to even start on your own without a mentor. Using the knowledge gained from this book I managed to get both my hives populated and built up ready for them to make it through what turned out to be one of the hardest winters we have had here for years. It's now spring in year 2... More > and all's well. My experience using this method has given me the confidence to build a further 6 hives ready for this season. I originally bought the second edition which was current at the time but the recent third print has now been greatly expanded to include not only further updates and information but whole new sections including how to manage a vertical top bar hives. I couldn't recommend this book more – if you only buy one beekeeping book, make sure it is this one! You'll not only get a very interesting read but will probably enjoy a lifetime of sustainable beekeeping as a result.< Less
