When Maggie Bidwell returns to her uninhabited family home in fictional Churchmont, Massachusetts, her intention is merely to take a hiatus from her hectic New York lifestyle. The events of the next eight weeks, however, are life altering. She arrives in Churchmont on a blustery Valentine’s Day evening. Jack Farly, her childhood sweetheart and neighbor, appears on her snowy doorstep, still single. The opportunity avails itself for Jack and Maggie to reunite as adults, in the absence of her judgmental family. The reader experiences their childhood memories, a growing new love and passion and enjoys the levity of daily life in a small New England hill town. The plot is not without tragedy but with loss, Maggie’s blessings abound.
