""Flowers of Sand" by: Paris Jane Taylor" So many collections of poems, essays or gathered writings are resurrected from stale, dated material buried in an author’s past. What separates “Flowers of Sand” from so many such collections is that the material itself is very much in the author’s Now. Testimony coming from a person who has known the author for many years, but this is not a collection one must need such intimate insights in order to enjoy. As it instantly strikes a chord with young mothers struggling between mundane acceptance and vicious denial, it simultaneously offers something very personal (often dark) about the author herself. Purposefully unpolished, it reads like a poetically structured inner-dialogue. Those who read it, will feel privileged to have had a chance to listen in. Thomas Brinsley (afar)
