Jérôme Le Royer de la Dauversière
This man of great virtue lived from 1589 to 1659, under the reigns of Henri IV, Louis XIII and Louis XIV. He was an extraordinary person. Married, father of five children of whom four entered religion. He was a collector of royal taxes for the town of La Flèche and surrounding area. He was a man of faith. He founded a community of Religious Hospitallers. He was also at the origin of the foundation of Montreal in Canada. He completed this project without ever leaving France. On July 6, 2007, the Vatican recognized the “heroic virtues” of Jérôme Le Royer by proclaiming him Venerable.
