This is the story of Charlie Ford, a decorated Vietnam-era Navy pilot who launched his civilian career piloting commercial air freight across the Gulf Coast states. In 1985, a chance meeting with his former wing man drew Charlie into the CIA's private war against communist rebels in Central America.
The Nicaraguan army shot down a C-123 cargo plane in 1986, near the southern border with Costa Rica. Three American citizens died in that crash; another was captured two days later. Few are aware that two men were never captured, escaping through the dense jungle. One of them was Charlie Ford.
Instead of finding a safe haven back in the States, Charlie found that he and his family faced an even greater enemy ... his own government.
In COMPLICIT, Patrick Joffrion will keep you riveted as defense attorney Pappy Travis and his investigator Rip Jackson return in this novel, uncovering links to powerful US officials responsible for the assassination of Americans who knew too much about... More > covert operations.< Less

Wow! This book just keeps building and building with intrigue. I'm old enough to remember the news of a drug pilot gunned down by the Colombian Cartel on a Baton Rouge street in 1986, and the CIA plane crash in Nicaragua later that year. It's obvious that this "novel" was compiled after some serious research.
Once again Pat Joffrion delivers a story that takes the reader right into the heart of the action. It's an excellent tale surrounding the Nicaraguan arms running in the 80', the leaves the reader wondering if there's not more than a little truth sprinkled in. The setting of south Louisiana is perfect for a story such as the one of Charlie Ford, I'm not sure it could have happened anywhere else.
