Now Playing... Again: A Novel of Second Chances
eBook (PDF), 272 Pages
While flying home to New York after a business trip, Bryan Powers, Fractional Jet executive, is asked a simple question by his CEO: “If you could relive one event in your life, what would you choose?” Powers admits that replaying a football game the team lost his senior year in high school would be a wish he’d make. Moments later, a strange event occurs on the plane. Powers awakes to discover that he is on a wild and mysterious ride into his past life. He realizes the wish was not as simple as he’d thought. Seeing his best buddy—who would be killed in Vietnam in 1970—stuns Powers into shifting his original mission from merely changing the outcome of a football game into saving his best friend’s life. Everything comes to a climax for Powers and his quest during the big game Saturday night in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Join them and experience his race against a ticking clock.

Jul 14, 2011I absolutely loved this book. Mr.Dunlavy captured the zeitgeist of my youth with all the anxieties, loves and losses....either he has a remarkable memory or he really did time travel. I know that everyone who recognizes themselves in the characters will cherish and appreciate his work.
Jun 29, 2011My wife and I recently read Now Playing Again. We found that this easy reading novel owned us from start to finish. If you, your friends, or family members went through their teens in the sixties, reading this story will be a fun experience. The book is also quite a tribute to his good friend Jim Vinciguerra and all other Vietnam veterans who sacraficed for this country. Most of us would alter something in our past experiences if we had the chance. Well, Bryan Powers gets that chance in now Playing Again. He tampers with everything from romance to family and friends relationships, and Oh Yes! that final football game his senior year. The play by play desciption was so intense and exciting that I almost thought I was one of the characters and had been there myself. Many insights can wisely be applied to our lives today. You must read this uplifting story
May 30, 2011Patrick has written a book that will resonate with anyone who has a past - that means everyone. It is based on the timeless idea of having a second chance to do something in your life over again. Pat's wonderful twist is that although he is re-experiencing events that took place in his youth and he occupies his high school body, his mind is that of the adult he has become. He is conscious of all that will happen and hoping he can somehow change that outcome. Although the story centers around the "big game" he had in high school, it is really about friendship, love and loss. "Now Playing...Again" is an engaging, exciting and very touching story of what most of us wish we had, a second chance.
May 20, 2011I found this book of second-chances did a masterful job in capturing the never ending waves of exhilaration and disappointment that occur each year in the quest for high school football fame. From an adult perspective, you can relive the trials and triumphs of your own high school glory days.
