Once a powerful proponent of Law, the Archmage Tazimack the Red was eventually driven mad by a fear of mortality. As he slipped into insanity his retirement home began to reflect the chaotic bent of his mind. Me and my friends haven't had this much fun playing D&D (sorry, Labyrinth Lord) since we started in 1984. Lots of great little puzzles and quirky magic items to fiddle with and a really cool creepy funhouse atmosphere. Some of the baddies are definitely too difficult for beginning characters but I guess that's kind of a staple of these old school adventures - sometimes you gotta get creative instead of going head to head. Two caveats: (1) the adventure is not very long, good for one all-nighter or maybe 2 or 3 shorter sessions; (2) like many of the hobby's early adventures, this one contains a lot of whimsical elements - definitely not for anyone who takes themselves or this game too seriously.
I'd seen recommendations for this on blogs, but to me it reads like yet another precious Victoriana funhouse dungeon most of whose content comes from bad puns. I don't think I'll even be willing to take many ideas from here, they're so foreign to the style of game I'm seeking.
