The Pocket PCT,2nd edition, is a lightweight (3.8 oz), pocket-sized (4.25 x 6.88 inches), affordable, and easy to use elevation guide aimed primarily at Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers but equally useful for PCT section hikers, day hikers and anyone in between. The Pocket PCT is built around an elevation profile of the entire 2655 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail with all data personally verified by the author on his 2010 PCT thru-hike. The detailed profile shows water sources (rated by reliability), water caches, resupply points, and hundreds of other landmarks such as campgrounds, roads, creeks, rivers, and trails. Symbols identify each point of interest and includes that point's elevation (and directions if off-trail). Commonly used resupply point addresses and other information is included in the back of the guide, including directions to each resupply point from the trail. This guide was greatly enhanced by the suggestions of over a hundred PCT hikers. HikeThru.com.

I'm currently thru-hiking the PCT and have found this book to be indespensible. I use it to supplement Halfmile's maps and I love it. I keep it in a zip-loc baggie in my front pocket and refer to it a dozen times a day. Plus, if someone has trail info for me, I can flip forward to that page and make notes. Small, lightweight and essential are the words I use to describe Paul Bodnar's Pocket PCT.
