This is an interesting book that helped me think more about the issues of how Christians relate to God, to each other and those outside 'the Church'. There's a lot of truth in here about addiction, dealing with disappointment and being 'real'. I would recommend it to those who are 'searching'- whether that's for a meaning to life or for how to live out a life in a way that's open before God and man. Creative and original. Worth a read.

A creative way of presenting the faith to the person immersed in today's culture who cannot go it alone. Although fiction, it reminds me of real life stories and in particular of a Brazial football team "Carepebus" and how the faith of the coach and fellow teammates helped work wonders both on and off the field with those players struggling with addictions Fr Kevin Lixey

A thought provoking book with a contemporary view on life and the things that can promise happiness but lead to disappointment and entrapment. Cheraser shares his personal experience of finding acceptance and, ultimately, release through joining a church football team and then having a personal encounter with God. Reading the book we are also challenged to think about western church culture and how it can be a barrier to people coming to know Jesus for themselves. If you feel dissatisfied with your life or you want some ideas on how to make your church more relevant and inclusive then I recommend you read this book.

A creative, thoughtful and inspiring insight into the spiritual realm of a searcher (anagram of 'Cheraser') and how Christians may need to reconsider presenting the truth of God in more genuine, honest and personal ways which true seekers desire. This is a book for both searchers and Christians. The challenge to searchers of truth is to not be satisfied with anything but authentic and lasting fulfilment. The challenge to Christians may be summed up by the closing words of the book: "If every Christian chose a comfortable and risk-free journey, then many spiritual searchers would probably never find the key that God turns to unlock absolute truth." I gave this four stars as I am hopeful that Paul Dakin will produce even more delightful and thought-provoking literature in the future!
