Pixels are produced in bulk, transmitted, compressed and re-expanded, archived and retrieved, enhanced and processed, and ultimately interpreted. In aggregate, pixels form visualizations of the world from varying scales and vantage points. A picture may be worth a thousand words...but it is made from millions of pixels. The algorithms which produce the art seen here are interdisciplinary, representing a novel and unique form of mathematical pointillism. The resulting work reflects how science and art are inextricably connected. Examples of this art are denoted Pixtile(tm) Art because they tile seamlessly and are composed of pixels. These Pixtile designs are the creation of Paul Max Payton, a computer scientist and artist. Examples of his work have been featured at the Xerox PARC Algorithmic Art show and are represented in corporate and private collections on the West Coast.

Wow!!! These images are amazing. The creator, Paul Payton, is well-known as an algorithmic artist, but his work is rarely available. This is the first time that I've found his work available to the public.
