"An exceptional good piece of historical fiction." All of the work that Rosenzweig has put into researching and adding the found details into this novel is quite impressive. The author does not hold back as he captures the 1600's - 1700's time period. He doesn't sugar-coat it. There is cruelty and violence. Amongst it all there is also love and passion. This book makes you adore and empathize with the characters. The dialogue and perspective between the two worlds are particularly interesting. This book will keep you turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning.

"Excellent historical novel!!!" A thoroughly enjoyable novel of the american west and a young woman's coming of age. The prologue/introduction reminded me of Michener's novels (but was considerably shorter)as it gave the reader a historically accurate portrait of the time period. The characters and their conflicts were recognizable to any reader over the age of 13. The plot was quick enough to hold your interest and kept the reader wondering what would happen next. I would recommend this book to any reader and it would be a great introduction to the genre for young readers.
