Orthodox Anglican Priest's Manual
The offices for the sick and dying are the forgotten child of the Book of Common Prayer. The rubric has not been updated since 1549, but much has changed since then. People go to hospitals and nursing homes instead of taking to their bed. With longer life spans and modern medicine, people are living longer and often experience more and longer hospitalizations. Visitation of the Sick has been shortened to reflect use in a hospital or nursing home instead of at home. The Reserved Sacrament is usually preferable when ministering to the sick. The Communion Service is intended for use by chaplains and parish clergy during visits to hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. It could also be used outside of chaplaincy. Chaplains have found that many of those who are dying like to have the Psalms read to them, so the Psalter has been included from the 1928 BCP (except for Psalm 23, which is KJV).

Jan 26, 2015A Precision Manual of Ecclesia Anglicana Guided by the Heart and the Spirit of Experience - During the years I lived in England, I spent time with Anglican priests within Holy Trinity Church in Leeds. I am primarily a writer of ecclesiastical horror and dark fantasy. However, religion, world conspiracy and spiritual thought are primary fuels that have inspired my writing. I am humbled and honored to write this review of the Orthodox Anglican Priest’s Manual. Some may feel reviewing a manual designed to guide a priest is no different than reviewing a work of fiction. But I found it genuinely felt different to read and thoughtfully produce a review that could be found meaningful to readers of fiction and non-fiction alike. I’ve studied the Holy Bible from cover to cover, pouring over every word. I’ve attempted to distance myself and be objective. I hope this review inspires you to examine this work. This manual will soon be available in digital format enabling a priest to carry a... More > handheld reading device, having the manual easily accessible. The Orthodox Anglican Priest’s Manual is a genuine tour de force compiled by an experienced, kind, concerned and meticulous contemporary priest with the intent to provide a manual for priests that covers issues from the cradle to the grave. It is valuable to active and inactive clergy, and serves as a reference to all interested in comparative religion, seeking a comprehensive guideline to ministering within the Anglican Church. Its focus is service, depicting a 360 degree study of every aspect of human emotion. This will also be found useful to civilian and military communities. Reverend Taylor has gone the extra mile by creating an organized common sense approach to the administration of the duties of an Anglican priest. This alone makes it invaluable especially for the active priest. I highly recommend this manual for this purpose as well as a resource for all who may find interest in the ecclesiastical functioning of a priest within the Anglican Church. I give the Orthodox Anglican Priest’s Manual 5 stars because: 1) It succeeds for the specific purpose that it was written; and 2) after spending time deeply examining this book, found it inspired many strange, tremulous dreams. These dreams will certainly be accessed for future works as a writer of ecclesiastical horror and further sinister journeys into worlds of only the darkest of fantasy.< Less
