Letter from Iraq is an original play written and developed by Colin O’Doherty and Peadar Donohoe that delves into the divisive issues of the war through the dysfunctional dynamics of a family who have grown apart. No longer able to connect with one another since the death of a beloved mother, they carry on oblivious to one another’s pain. Now, the loss of the eldest son, serving in Iraq, threatens to compound past mistakes with the ultimate disintegration of the family. That is, until the arrival of an enigmatic presence, a counsellor, supposedly sent by the army in order to aid the family in this time of anguish, but who may not be all that she claims to be.
This is a wonderful play, infused with humour and pathos and a surprise ending that brings all the threads together.
