For those of you unable to get your download, be patient. The download takes some time, but will eventually come in to your email. The photos are great, but more detailed measurements and diagrams would be very welcome. Overall, looks like something worth trying. Thanks.

Thanks! I appreciate your posting of the plans and hope to get the accompanying book soon. It does take a minute for the download to start while it seems like nothing is happening, so just wait for it to load.

If you're of the "commercial production / move my hive every week" methodology, this isn't the hive design for you. ----- If you've got a T-square, handsaw, clamps, glue, scrap wood, hardware and an honest interest in building a healthy bee atmosphere, take the free download and build! ----- I love the simplicity of design, the classic hive look and the intent that the "bee minder" will leave the bees alone to do what bees do. I also like the way the author uses small cuts of wood, similar enough to scrap wood, rather than posting an expensive shopping list of "perfect size" lumber. ----- If I had one recommendation, it would be to include a design template with measurements in a layout similar to those that accompany 'put-it-together-yourseif' bookshelves. He currently offers a page with board cuts listed, followed by pictures that only slightly help us visualize how individual pieces work together.

This top bar hive is simple to make and a great way to keep bees without costing an arm and a leg, and without heavy lifting. The bees draw out the wax. It is important to run some wax along the top bars to encourage the bees to draw wax along the bars, and not crossways which makes it more complicated to get any honey when they have surplass. Top marks!
