A book which instantly and effortlessly drops the reader in to a highly original yet entirely believable fantasy world or, rather, a city. Through a series of short stories, the book presents an account of how a city is saved from imminent destruction by a turn of events resulting in the city being lifted up by a silent giant and carried across a wasted and barren land. Each story stands alone but weaves itself in to a novel which perfectly reflects a society formed around the physical and psychological effects of living in a walking city. Philip Downs' artwork - both the front illustration and the woodcarving-esque designs inside - captures the mood perfectly. What results from the immaculate stylisation of this beautiful, tragic and epic world is something both faintly nostalgic and familiar juxtaposed neatly with a feeling that is far darker, more menacing and old beyond recognition.

"Firstly, I thought the writing was brilliant, concise, eloquent with a lot of linguistic colour. The story was unique, intriguing and thought provoking and it kept me interested throughout. The possible hidden meanings within were also quite fun to try and decipher. I felt half way through that the whole thing was a metaphor for climate change!? Or was it a metaphor for being vegan? : ) And the consequences of eating meat? ....its always good when a story is evocative and conjures up different interpretations for different readers." - Robert Ince, Playwright
