The Community of Writers Poetry Workshop takes place every summer in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Each participant and each staff poet writes a poem every day and presents it at the following morning’s session. The support of a community of like-minded poets, all struggling with the similar doubts and fears, makes possible this daily act of courage and trust.
In The Squaw Valley Review, alumni poets continue the tradition of publishing a collection of poems begun during the Poetry Workshop. Poets from the most recent workshop submit three poems, revised or the same as the day the poem was first imagined. Volunteer editors, alumni from the same annual workshop, select the poems that appear in the Review. Proceeds benefit the Poetry Workshop Scholarship Fund.
