Jan 11, 2011Happy Birthday Jacquie! Your book remains an inspiration as much today as when you wrote it. I am so glad you had the strength to dream and the courage to follow them!
Apr 19, 2010"Re: Finally, Dreams Coming True" This is Jacquie's memoir. It is the way she remembered her life, and everyone who knew Jacquie commented on her incredible memory. Ms. Singer's unfavorable review was undoubtedly written because she is a family friend - and, unfortunately, Jacquie's family is not portrayed positively in her book. However, reviews posted by friends of Jacquie's state that the book is an accurate account of her life. I am sorry to have to report that Jacquie has passed away but, hopefully, her book will continue to be an inspiration for everyone. She was a courageous woman.
Apr 24, 2009"Finally Dreams Coming True" Finally Dreams Coming True for Jacquie! A story of perseverance, grace and courage. From the first page I felt the presence of Jacquie as if she were sitting next to me. What a beautiful person she must have been. Thank you Phyllis for bringing her words to life in these pages, even if only for a few to read. Like the Butterfly (she chose for the cover) the insect that represents the Process of Transformation and the Dance of Joy. (from Animal Speak by Ted Andrews) The gift you gave her in producing this book freed her from pain and allowed her spirit to be free and Dance with Joy! Amazing!!!:)
Apr 4, 2008"Finally, Dreams Coming Together" I think that Jacquie has fulfilled both stated goals of her book; i.e., to publish a memoir and to help other people who have needs similiar to hers. Having known Jacquie for more than ten years and being familiar with much of her "story," I think she's done a credible job of describing what has happened to her. I also believe that her thoughts and recommendations regarding how others can benefit through her experience is accurate and well-stated. I think this would be an excellent resource for people who want to know about what it's like to have, and to live with, a disability.
Sep 23, 2007"Finally, Dreams Coming True" After reading the first two chapters it is evident that this book is full of nonfactual information that should have been checked prior to publishing or distributing. As a family friend for many years I see now why this book has never been brought to the attention of anyone who has been a part of her life for the first nineteen years. Jacquie had a normal childhood with both parents and stepparents that loved and cared for her as much as her sisters and brothers. If anyone reads this book carefully they would see the many contradictions throughout the book especially if they knew her and her family. I'm sorry that no one felt the need to check facts before passing judgment on her family.
