An interesting mix of politics and religion! The writer faces head on controversial questions about democracy! Is it real or are we being swindled? The economic monstrosity, is there a better way? The universal body, are we aware of the real dangers? Terrorism and wars! Are they inevitable? He laments our amoral western society and further trows himself into philosophical, theological questions. Is God alive? What are the signs of God! Which is the right religion? What of the Big Bang and evolution? Questions and dilemmas! The myth of the population explosion! Extra terrestrials? Finally he tackles social and moral questions about human rights, tolerance, abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, gay marriage and other sensitive issues. The writer further offers a window into an unusual life that begins in an orphanage in Sicily where a devoted religious life sustains this young child. He is catapulted into another world faraway in Australia, from an austere environment into one that... More > bombards his senses with much new stimulation. In a short time span he is challenged with new language, a new family, shipped to a boarding school and faces the unexpected death of his new dad. This throws further turmoil in his life. Inadvertedly finds himself away from the faith into a secular lifestyle. His marriage and family give him purpose and much joy. It is a decent and moral family, but a secular one outside of religion. Unexplainably, his son, a young 16 year old rejects the secular teachings, immerses himself into learning and researching much historical and empirical data and after long and thorough analysis, contemplation and thought he embraces the teachings of the church standing against a torrent of opposition and pressure. This throws an enormous challenge to the writer and becomes the catalyst for the reassessment of beliefs (over the course of some years) from convenient subjective truths (untruths) to an attempt to discover the objective and often seemingly, at least initially, inconvenient truth. A vibrant and most challenging book!! Most enjoyable!!!< Less

A gutsy book that tells it how it is! Disregarding political correctness, it confronts delicate social issues head on. The section on politics is food for thought; particularly incisive is the chapter on “The Democratic Swindle” and “Democracy of Morality”. The short autobiography is quite compelling and draws one into the many varied stages of the writer’s life especially the circumstances surrounding the writer’s conversion with its many twists and turns. Clarity of mind is shown by good strong arguments for Theism in general and Christianity in particular. Some theories get a good deserved belting by reason and logic backed up by a good number of opposing arguments. The chapter on “Evolution is the answer” has a number of strong and compelling arguments. Other captivating chapters are: “Questions and Dilemmas”, “I Am Ready to Answer My Own Questions”, “The Myth of The Population Explosion”, “Damnation” and “Extra Terrestrials”. Moral issues are tackled face on and laments their... More > devastating impact on society. This is an unusual mix of two controversial subjects, Politics and Religion; with an autobiography that fits rather well into this mixed narrative. Stirring and easy to read! Rather Enjoyable!!< Less
