Viruses of Rhabdoviridae Infecting Plants, Vertebrates & Invertebrates

ByPrashant C AradeJanki P Pandya

There are more than 160 viral species in the family Rhabdoviridae, which pose a threat to plant, human and animal health. Most plant rhabdoviruses are transmitted by aphids, leafhoppers or planthoppers, and several of them have been shown to replicate in arthropod vectors. The OFV is transmitted by the false-spider mite B. californicus in a persistent manner. The entry of virus into host cells is mediated by the surface G protein which binds to a cellular receptor. It outlines the exciting opportunities for future research that will contribute to a more detailed understanding of the biology, biochemistry, replication and host interactions of the plant rhabdoviruses.
