Medical research continues to demonstrate the importance of sleep to maintaining good health mostly by showing the consequences of not getting enough sleep. But a question remains, is it how much sleep that matters or is the quality of that sleep more important. Is it necessary to spend seven to nine hours in bed to get the quality sleep required for good health or can it be accomplished in shorter bursts (naps) over the course of 24 hours. PureDoxyk in the second edition of her book Ubersleep has offered a well written guide to optimizing the amount of sleep a body gets and thereby gaining time for useful wakefulness. The author reminds the reader frequently that following this path is not for everyone and that it requires flexibility in external commitments as well as discipline if the added wake time by living polyphasically is to be had. She has walked the walk and so her explanations are based on her own experience over years of the various options of polyphasic sleep. Her book...
