The Sunday Mass Obligation

A survey of the obligation encumbent upon Catholics to participate in the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist. This work traces the development of the Sunday obligation from apostolic times to the present day, focusing on what is necessary to fulfill the obligation according to Catholic Canon Law. Included is a treatise on whether the obligation can be satisfied by participating at Masses celebrated by members of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX). This work is comprised of the thesis partially fulfilling the requirement for the degree Licentiate in Canon Law from the Catholic University of America by the Reverend R. Paul Beach, a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, KY.
