The Price

Although a 'stand alone' story, "The Price" is vol.2 of the 'Crystal Hearts' trilogy. Vol.1, "If only they knew" and vol.3, "Cual Sera" are the other linked but independent novels that complete the trilogy. It is a tale of how obession with the past can taint the present and give rise to the feeling that there can be no satisfactory future. Written in a biographical style, the story explains how the writer's earlier creation of an autobiography doesn't purge memories of lost love but reignites his wondering of a passionate affair he assumed was truely in the 'past'. As he struggles to look forwards, he recieves an email; the nature of which sets him off along a path that changes his life forever. He wrestles with his guilty conscience as he is drawn back into the world of the woman he thought lost, long ago, through his ineptitude. This time though, he overcomes his prevarication and accepts her invitation to make a new life with her.
