Finished reading this book within hours of recieving it. As a freelance photographer a lot of the advice crosses over so I was already aware of a lot of the advice given on photography and business law areas BUT even I found great new advice and tips in this book which is well written and full of honest annecdotes and stories to explain Raina's journey. It is packed full of rescources and information at the back. I can see this book being a great tool to loan to friends and family to help answer all their mer-related questions. All in all a great book, I look forward to the sequal =)
This book is a really interesting read for anyone who has ever dreamed about mermaids. Even if you aren't looking to be a mermaid performer, the author's story is a really interesting one. The info also applies to other performing arts jobs. Really funny parts, loved the tone. Great photos too. Paperback is a nice version, printed very lovely.
Many little girls dream of becoming a mermaid, especially after seeing Splash, Disney's the Little Mermaid, and the TV series H20: Just add water. But what does it take to be a mermaid, and do it professionally. In this book, Raina Mermaid goes into details on what is necessary. She has done this herself for several years, and offers insights based on her personal experiences. She covers things like contracts, equipment, payment, publicity, and many other things that a potential mermaid would need to know, especially if they were looking to do it professionally. She also doesn't shy away from talking about the negative aspects of being a mermaid, especially online. Overall, an excellent book. It could also help non-mermaids with some ideas on how to run their businesses. The overall message is follow your dreams, but know what you need to do to get there.
