“In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote was first published in 1966. It is a non-fiction account of the 1959 murders of Herbert Clutter, his wife Kansas, and two of their four children. When Truman Capote came to know about these four murders, the killers were not captured. He wanted to write about that crime so he travelled to Kansas. He travelled to Kansas with his childhood friend and fellow writer Harper Lee. Having reached the place of the crime, they met several local residents and investigators and prepared thousands of pages of notes. Richard “Dick” Hickok and Perry Smith were the killers. They were arrested six weeks after the murders.
