Water Supply Sources in Southeastern Ohio

ByRalph Cokonougher

All living things die without a safe and clean water supply. This little book shows where and how the people of Southeastern Ohio get their necessary water. Topics include springs, wells, cisterns, streams, and ponds, digging a well by hand, driving, boring, and drilling a well, and water drawing methods such as dipping with a rope and pail, the windlass, and pumps. The various types of water pumps and how they work are also discussed. A case study of how the inhabitants of the little village of Mineral, Ohio obtain their water supplies rounds out this interesting study.
