Nothing to Say is a rare glimpse into the soul of an artist on the cusp of finding the meaning of her existence. The reader is given the opportunity to travel along with Ms. Pappert as she suffers serious life blows and experience her internal reactions to them. She critically examines our cultural assumptions around employment, money, relationships, gender, and modern life. I really liked the intimacy expressed in this book as well as the courage it took to present these private thoughts to the world. The comic book form is especially apropos to expressing sometimes amorphous emotional concepts in concrete line drawings. As serious and weighty many of the topics Ms. Pappert raises are, I really appreciate the sense of humor and whimsy that infuses the compete work. This is a painful, funny and, above all, honest story. Highly recommended!
