Dr. Boothe has assembled an impressive amount of background information and historic black & white photos covering the silvery pig iron industry that formerly operated in the Jackson area of Southeastern Ohio. This raw material was shipped all over the country for use in automobile production, railroad locomotives, military equipment, and ship building. Maps and more than 200 photos show details of the plants through the years, furnace construction, and the various support activities that were involved behind the scenes. Overall, it's an interesting look at a major industry that was once located in Jackson. Jim Hediger, Senior Editor, Model Railroader Magazine, Waukesha, Wis.
