This collection of six short stories all based around a river tell of hope and loss, tragedy and abiding love, despair and contentment. Much as the river shapes the characters by its presence so does it enter their lives and change them often in ways they could not imagine.
These are tales of magic and mystery, river sprites and faerie queens, werebeasts, nymphs and dryads. And they are tales of ordinary everyday people caught in situations beyond their control

"poignant" A River of Tears has a clear, open style. It has a deceptively simple but effective way to demonstrate grief, while keeping love and hope alive. Julie Elizabeth Powell, author of Gone
"An Enchanting read" Such an enchanting book. I got to the end and thought that was so good. I really just wished the book would go on forever. Please give me more. I have now read all of Raymond Walker's books apart from Tales from this Northern Land, which i have bought but yet to read and although i loved his earlier ones, A River of Tears was certainly my favourite to date. I loved it so much i just wished it would go on and on and on. Highly recommended.
"Excellent book. I loved it." A River of Tears is a wonderful and magical journey through the tribulations of love in our mortal realm, and of the human spirit's struggle against time and death. These tales open a window to the unknown where the heart's eternal search for a true immortal love seems possible. It is beautifully written and clearly presented, never gets bogged down in narrow details. An entertaining as well as inspirational read. A light of hope, a way to our souls...a whisper of Eternity. Simply outstanding. I did love it.
