Super Pop-Up Shop documents a series of public art projects created for a temporary storefront site in the Alameda Towne Centre in Alameda, CA for three weekends in November-December 2009. Twelve participating artists mounted participatory works, using the peak holiday shopping season to playfully and incisively explore ideas about commerce and exchange. The book also includes photographs by Brian Ulrich and an essay on shopping centers as unique public spaces. The project stemmed from a graduate seminar course at California College of the Arts, with instructors Rebeca Bollinger and Glen Helfand.
