"Book Review of EMPIRE! By Red Jordan Arobateau" EMPIRE! In EMPIRE!, Enter the world of 2056. The once mighty Am-Erica, world ruler has fallen, in its place is the advanced empire Utopia, a global dictatorship with security but no freedom, ruled by The Unity. An amazing gem of a novel. This novel keeps you spell bound, politically challenged, spiritual awakened. It has its share of sex and jaded sex. Hero citizen Star1.vax~33 is a worker at a mandatory job in the Bureau of Statistics where he sits at word hole/telly processing citizen’s questions. ‘Starvax’ is a mixed-race ftm transsexual—in a world where some people’s gender has become morphed and transsexual gay etc., are of little notice. Where offspring are incubated in the mechanical wombs of SPOVA beside which sit the anxious parents cooing to their pre-designated child. Life under the domes of the Unity is well above many people’s standard of today. Without a care. Food, housing (in one of Utopia’s 500 floor... More > skyscrapers) education and medical guaranteed. A mandatory job provided. An average citizen can expect to live 200 years. Be fed lies via telly and attend mandatory citizen rallies in Peoples Square. There is space travel and deep space exploration. Strange paradox in that citizens of Utopia are not entirely unhappy …unless they believe in freedom. Just don’t question, don’t make waves or you might find yourself underground 40 floors dwelling sub among drones and Old Timers, and at worst, removed. Life under the dome’s ain’t bad. Outside them others are living on the planet too, in dire straits due to radioactive pollution, inheritance from global catastrophes of World War 3, and global warming. Empire may sound like an overworked title for a first book in this groundbreaking series but it is very relevant, as in the text the Unity of Utopia is often compared to past dynasty’s—the glory that was Greece; the Roman Empire, dynasties of the Egyptian Sun Gods, and sadly today our own America empire challenged as it is. In this fascinating world an adventure takes place. Young Starvax finds himself attending an underground, forbidden study group, which is gradually unearthing the lies of The Unity. In these reading groups handpicked citizens are introduced to members of the resistance, an underground movement-challenging Utopia. They are reading a study manual based on a curious document; a ‘Journal’; controversial, banned, left over from the 1990’s; for its past political views which are highly relevant to them now in 2056, here in this dictatorship of the modern time. The exciting drama/ adventure has fully taken hold of the readers attention. And pounds on down to its exciting finale. Red has been a popular writer for 40 years; for his first science fiction book this is a golden gem in Sci-Fi/futurist writings. Entertaining to read, exciting for its fabulous characters, & great dialogue as well as its hard-core informative descriptions. EMPIRE! is not afraid to take on race and class issues. This book hits readers on so many fronts of interest that it keeps them reading until the end to see what happens next and at that point they will be glad to know its sequel Man Gone/ Starvax (Book 2.) is also available on Red Jordan Arobateau is a life long artist-writer with 60 plus novels; stories, plays, and poetry collections under his belt, available in different sites on line including, and his website Book Review issued by RED JORDAN PRESS, 2007< Less
