Sophia Grace was abandoned at the ripe old age of two hours. Sophia eventually married esteemed lawyer and billionaire, Richard Steele, whom she had a son with. When Ricky was four, they divorced, and Sophia was alone once again. When her drinking got out of control, she eventually lost custody of her son. In a desperate attempt to spend time with Ricky, who had been diagnosed with autism, Sophia abducted him from school one day when he was six. Her plan was to drive cross country where they could start a new life. Sophia offered to give George, a man she would later find out suffered from Dementia, a ride to his home in California. Shortly thereafter, she meets Ben, who always seemed to be around when Sophia needed him the most.
