Amiable Louisa is a story about a young woman who thought about becoming a Christian but decided to wait. She attended church and other meetings but delayed trusting Christ as her Savior. She tragically died of illness. A warning quote from the book: “O could they who are postponing repentance to a sick bed have witnessed the suffering of this once merry girl, they would shudder at the thought of trusting to a dying hour.” JOHN STEVENS CABOT ABBOTT (1805-1877) was born in Maine. He was the brother of Jacob Abbott and Gorham Abbott, both Christian writers. He went to Bowdoin College in 1825 and attended Andover Theological Seminary. He worked as a pastor and wrote history, biography and Christian ethics books. (12 pages)
