Rhonda is a great animal rescuer as well as a great writer! I knew this book would bring tears to my eyes and it did, but it also very uplifting! The stories, the animals, the people involved and the faith in God expressed is overwhelming! I not only recommend reading this wonderful book, but I also recommend getting involved! There is so much need and there are fabulous people such as Rhonda doing more thn their share, but they need more help. I have done some transporting and I want to adopt every single passenger! The animals available for adoption are incredible and the. "underground railroad" transporting them is amazing! Read the book, get involved, adopt a pet and spay or neuter your pet!

If you care about animals but question whether one person can make a real difference, then this book will challenge you to reconsider the power of a single, determined mind. The author, Rhonda Sims, is in many ways your average American – a mother, wife and full-time business owner. Yet, despite her daily obligations, she has still managed to save thousands of dogs and cats since beginning Freedom Train Transports in memory of her beloved Cocker Spaniel mix, Charlie. This is a heartwarming and inspirational book about a remarkable lady who reminds us of how much of a difference one person can make.

I just recently purchasing this book and purchased a copy for a friend. I've personally have had the pleasure of adopting a beautiful dog throung Rhonda Sims's group and this is one most amazing, heart warming, powerful books I've ever read. She shows what it is really about in the rescue world, the good, the bad, the evil and most importantly, How important animals are to us humans and how we have so much to improve in our lives with any and all animals. Rhonda not only speaks from her heart but mind and soul and her deep love for all animals. It's an awe inspiring true book from a woman and her group on the front lines of animal rescue and the importantace of ALL ANIMALS in the world and society...Thank you Rhonda for opening my eyes even more to the care and treatment of all animals.

Companion animals have come to be regarded as disposable luxuries in our society. When no longer wanted, they are abused, neglected, abandoned on the roadside, or surrendered at animal control facilities. A growing number of compassionate souls are standing up in defense of those animals deemed unworthy or undeserving of love and life, and are fighting every day to put an end to their needless suffering. Rhonda Sims is one of those angels on earth, and has captured her many years of experience in animal rescue and transport in this book. It starts with the personal story of her dog Charlie (who she also affectionately refers to as MooMooLippie) and how her bond with him inspired the work that she does today with animal rescue. Each chapter thereafter highlights specific rescues of cats and dogs and features several before/after pictures that will amaze and inspire. Sims spotlights the Freedom Train, the ground transport network that she formed, as well as air transports, which are... More > both operated an funded solely by volunteers. Sims also shares the plight of shelter animals and dedicates an entire chapter to pit bulls, the most misunderstood breed (though not technically a breed) and the most widely euthanized breed in shelters throughout the country. Sims discusses the overlooked importance of spay/neuter in reducing the animal overpopulation, and also explores why chaining/tethering is cruel. The book is not only a collection of inspiring and moving stories, but is also very powerful humane education. Anyone who read this book and has a heart will be moved to action, and Sims provides several different suggestions for how to support animal rescue and transports. She ends the book with a list of rescues/transport networks/humane societies, etc., that people can contact for more information. Cheers to Rhonda for her good work in writing this book and sharing these amazing stories. It is beautifully written, in her own passionate, Christian voice, as if she were having a heart-to-heart conversation directly with the reader. A big bonus: The majority of the purchase price of this book goes to Charlie's Paw Helping Fund, so buying a copy of this book does double good in that it brings you a wonderful read, and gives back to animals in need.< Less

When I started this book, I was reading under the label of "not a HUGE animal person." Though I respected and loved God's creatures, I have never been attached to any animal before (except maybe my beloved beta fishes). While reading this book, though, I felt myself becoming emotionally involved in the stories of animal rescues, and, in turn, I become attached to every animal displayed on each page. Not only is Fur Tales educational in the processes of animal rescue and transport, the book is also truly inspirational. I was inspired to not only become more involved in the mission of animal transports and rescue, but I also found myself mentally preparing a "forever home" for future pets someday! (And if you don't know what a "forever home" is, then I guess you need to read the book!)
