"A Waterboy's Story by Richard Lemke" I know Coach Lemke very well as was amember of the 1969 Crosby Maroon Football team. Coach was a very motivated, intense individual, and reading this book really made me understand why. He had a very hard life, growing up in the midwest without a father. I think he used this as motivation to get through college, and to pass on this intensity to his students and players to make them better people. I know he had in the 69 Maroons, a team that would have taken a bullet for him, and he felt the same way about us as well. He has had sucess in every level he aspired to, and the reason is he is a master motivator. This is a very personal story, by a very good coach, and an even better man. Our team all were better for have known him, and I love the man. Even though my legs were injured to the point of having to endure double knee replacement surgery two years ago, I would gladly do it again just to here him say "Good Job!". CHUCK... "Awesome coach .... awesome man!" I personally know Dr. Lemke, and admire him as an educator, coach, and man. I learned a LOT about football, education and life from him. I was fortunate enough to work for him in the Peru State College Physical Education Department (and helped draw up their offensive play book :-) ) -- and while I have yet to read this book (... am downloading it now), I can attest to the knowledge this man possesses from so many years of coaching football with 100% of his intellect and energy. Way to go Dr. Lemke!!!

"book review on Richard Lemke's book, "A Water Boy's Story"" I read the book on the way to Denver for Christmas. I thought it was an incredible story of a very courageous man. I am very proud to know him and to have gone to school with him. He and his wife, JoAnn, overcame almost insurmountable obstacles to reach their lifelong goals. They are great role models for all of us. Vicki J. LaCount Cool

"A Water Boy's Story" A book that should be read by young athletes and coaches! I was fortunate to play for Coach Lemke on the 1969 team, that he mentions in the book. I don't know if we had the most talent of any team in the conference, but I know we were in the best shape, the best motivated, the best hitters, and the best coached. We loved playing for Coach Lemke even when he coached us in Jr. High Basketball, when we also were undefeated. A great motivator and a very demanding coach who settled for nothing less than 100% Butch Haugland-1969 Crosby Maroon Football
