First I'll declare my interest in this book: Although I did not write it or edit it, and I derive no benefit from sales of the book, I did provide some assistance with the publishing process. As a private stock trader, author of a financial blog and several trading and investment books myself, you would have thought that I had read every account of the 1929 Wall Street Crash and subsequent economic depression. But not this one, which has recently been translated into English by ex-BBC journalist Peter Bild from Richard Lewinsohn's original German classic. So what's so different about this account of the 'original' financial crisis? It was written AT THE TIME, rather than some years after. And in the light of the more recent financial meltdown, it's just a relevant today as it was 80 years ago. Any book on the 'original' financial crisis (tulips aside) is well worth a read; and this one especially so.
