" I remember Squibob ". That was from the memoirs William Tecumseh Sherman. Others remembered Squibob by different names and attitudes. This is a mostly true account of their dealing with this enigmatic man. Their stories and his influence mark a distinct and memorable part of California and western American history. Some of the "Greats" of the 19th Century recall Squibob: Lincoln, Grant, Mark Twain, Bennett Riley, William Tecumseh Sherman, Lillie Coit of Coit Tower, Frederick Olmstead, and Hartman Bache.
