I had the pleasure of meeting Robert and attending some of his teachings in person. This book is nitty gritty, no bs, here's what needs to be done and here's what works. Should be read by anyone and everyone interested in getting dogs out the front door of a shelter instead of the back.
Robert Cabral is showing the world how poorly our current shelter system handles homeless animals. His practical methods used in training and working with dogs often prove to the shelters that an animal is not aggressive, they were just scared to death. His work with caged animals is amazing. In addition to saving many lives personally, Robert's books and videos have helped countless others to have a better understanding, giving them the tools they need to correct more animals. I am thrilled to see this new book available! I just ordered mine and recommend it to anyone who works with animals, or wants to understand animal behavior better. Robert Cabral writes in a clear manner, making it easy to read and understand. Once you start learning this way, you will appreciate the mind of a companion animal much better .
As the founder of Shelter Revolution (www.ShelterRevolution.org) I am in contact with many of the leading figures in the animal shelter industry. Robert Cabral is, in my opinion, THE leading authority on shelter dog rehab - the art of calming even the most vicious of dogs confined within today's prison-like facilities. It is this knowledge Robert brings to the pages of this book. He not only dispels harmful myths which prevent shelter workers from dealing effectively with these challenging animals, but he offers useful, hands-on methods that can be implemented quickly and safely. The author offers solutions, not theories. His work has been tested and proven on the battlefields of Los Angeles' city shelter system. He is now busy taking his message out to shelters across the country. I highly recommend this book to any shelter person active in dog rehab or to any shelter director looking for proven methods to save more lives in his/her shelter.
