Robert Perry's "Compassion in the Wasteland" is a potent allegory for our times about the importance of forgiveness, of oneself and others, and of course compassion. But it also has the quality of transcending time and place much like a classic parable or spiritual teaching. Through a range of characters of all ages and walks of life, the story unfolds in ways that keep the reader guessing and questioning where it will all lead. Like life itself, the author shows the important part to pay attention to is the journey. A sense of reaching towards a hopeful conclusion permeates the tone throughout, as well as the mysteries of faith and the power of letting go.

A beautifully updated version of the grail legend for modern seekers - This novel follows the quest of four people, each carrying their own wounds, who seek healing and overcome alienation in order to restore the wasteland to bloom. Bob Perry has created evocative landscapes and characters who's stories speak to universal human experience. I found myself on the edge of my seat, thrilled at times, frightened and breathless at others. As with his previous book "Where the Journey Takes You", the author does a wonderful job of uniting poetry and prose. I highly recommend this book to all!
