Price: $5.99
A short book about the first 13 or so years of the author's life as he grew up in the segregated Deep South in the 1940's and 1950's. Some of the stories jump forward to later periods of his life, however, this is done so the narrative can be more meaningful. In any case, he relates short stories about many of the experiences that served to form his character; indeed his life.

This is a short and entertaining account of a young man who grew up in the Deep South during some of the worst years of segregation. I was impressed with the level of support and love that came through in his writing. He must have been proud to have the parents and neighbors who were so instrumental in early his life.
