This book is my first foray into the erotic horror genre, and I am delighted to have started there. The tales therein describe dark, carnal passion and lusty action! Even monsters feel desire, and they certainly can provide pleasure... if you dare go their way. I commend the author for writing such a compelling book! I would not put it down until I had read it completely!

"The beast has been unbound." In my opinion, this one sentence gives a proper description of the author. I usually stray away from any type of romance novels, however, in this case I was thoroughly entertained by not only the erotic horror which was written but also by the graphic displays of lust and sex. My favorite part of the book is The Necropolis, a true nightmare. Prepare yourself, read with the lights on, or with lights dim, if you dare. Be sure to check under your bed and in your closet as well, for something dark may await you. Regardless, the darkness will be there waiting for you in your dreams after reading Obsidian Odes, and you may end up enjoying it.

I have enjoyed poetry as long as I can recall. A lot of modern poetry I've read falls short of my expectations of poetry. This collection of poetry does NOT fall into that category. Robert is very descriptive, and can paint a picture in your head. I enjoyed all the poems in this book, but I wanted to call out a couple of them that stuck in my head. Leviathan Rising can definitely stir up some erotic feelings deep inside. It was erotic, and written in the first person, who is also the one in control; this struck a chord with me as I enjoy having that control most of the time. Womb of the Dead was a very fun short read that made me imagine a whole story of a horrific love. For such a short piece, it said so much.

This isn't your run-of-the-mill book of poetry. Be prepared to be triggered (or mentally fingered) by this collection of debauchery and twisted verse. My two favorites are Where Devils Go To Dream and A Libertinous Valentine. Picture if William S. Burroughs was overdosed on Viagra, then you may have an idea on how these poems flow. Don't expect D.H.Lawrence suggestions of naughtiness, this book is sleaze and gore brought up to an H.G.Lewis level. The poems cover the range of Necrophilia, Zombie Lust, and even, Jack The Ripper. A collection of lust and overt graphic sex that will raise an eyebrow (and other parts of the body) of fans of erotic verse.
