In this paper, and my work, I have taken poetic license with the word conversation…stretching it to reflect three terms - conversation, dialogue, and discussion. From dialogue, I bring forward directed exploration and problem resolution (if it fits). From discussion, I draw debate and yes, sometimes in conversations people do clash. I prefer the word conversation because it has an easy feel to it. It has the most poetic reverie…and it is the most convivial of the three words.
As a convener, facilitator or collaborator, I recommend you go to the extreme ends – concrete and mythic – to loosen up our culture.
