The three 'synoptic gospels' are all in agreement with one another, therefore their name 'synoptic'. Mark's gospel is the original and foundation of Matthew and Luke's gospel. Of the 660 verses in Mark, Matthew has copied 600 of them, and Luke only adds 'six more chapters' to Matthew's gospel account. Mark only contains three teachings not found in Matthew and Luke [The Parable of the Growing Seed; Jesus Heals a Deaf and Mute Man; He Heals a Blind Man]. For some unknown reason, no one up until this time, has had the idea of combining the three gospels into one cohesive and easily readable document.
