If you ever wanted to know how a genuine railroad engineer works the rails, moves through the ranks and makes many friends during his long career, then this is one of those rare books for you. Additionally, photos are included of Bob's railroading years from his personal collection. I was rewarded when I found this real life story about Engineer, Bob Tweedy. I found it while researching books on the New Haven Railroad, and soon learned the author, Marc J. Frattasio, had written another well documented book about the New Haven Railroad In the McGinnis Era. I contacted my local public library and also got the New Haven Railroad In the McGinnis Era, on loan, and found that Marc spent some years as a youngster around the Readville, MA, rail yards and car shops. I believe the author's long time personal association with the railroad and its personnel make his writing so enjoyable on this subject. Thanks to the author for his detailed research and presentation on all matters, railroad.

"Bob Tweedy Engineer" Great read. I have known Bob since 1955 when I was a brakeman and conductor. Steam was gone and I never thought to ask him about running a steam engine. Bob is one of the last engineers to run a steam engine on a class one railroad and I am so glad he put his memories on paper. Mark should get kudos for encouraging him. Bob is in his nineties and his mind is sharp as a tack. I am looking forward to seeing him at the next meeting of RR veterans.
