Four plays by British novelist and playwright, Robert Salvin. Rhapsody in Red is a dramatic examination of censorship and artistic freedom, set in 1930s Moscow and post-War Hollywood. The Hypochondriac is an abridged translation of Molière's Le Malade Imaginaire, set in Edwardian London. An Actor's Life For Me is an old-school farce in the Whitehall tradition. "Edinburgh News review" "Salvin's target is state-sponsored censorship. His vehicle is comedy, in a plot which imagines Harpo Marx inspiring Russian playwright Mikhail Bulgakov to write a script that is suppressed by the pre-war Soviet authorities. The same script, when turned into a post-war Hollywood movie, is then the subject of McCarthy's communist witch-hunts.""Salvin's research is good and his idea is not only nicely balanced but it also makes strong fictional use of historical characters. This certainly deserves to be seen again."
