Ever wondered why sometimes you feel disconnected from your surroundings or not quite satisfied with your life? Is this all there is? we ask. Dr. Robert Selman has written an easy-to read explanation of how this state of affairs has come about, how, through the constructs of language and culture, we have thrown a veil over the very senses that could set us free to experience and enjoy the fruits of "Paradise". Combining his years of therapeutic experience and a comprehensive understanding of the behavioral sciences with a deep reading of the transcendental Dr. Selman exposes the superficialities of the human condition. He draws on his own personal experiences to illustrate ways in which we can release ourselves from preconceptions, energy wasting anxieties and negative thought patterns. Practical, simple exercises are provided to instill the the processes that will free up our senses to open the gates of enlightenment. Dr Selman shows us that Paradise is not just a metaphor... I really enjoyed reading Dr. Selman's Book, and found so much of his advice to be directly applicable to me, and in particular, chapter V "Relationships". It is hard to add more to what has already been said in the previous reviews, but I certainly agree with all the comments.

This is a good book, plain and simple. Not only does it reinforce what we already know and should be doing, which is having a clear and positive mind is the path to being spiritually fulfilled and "happy", but it goes a step further. Dr. Selman gives you practical tools that you could use everyday to get you closer to and eventually arrive at true enlightenment, or Re-Entering Paradise as the book explains. Since reading it, I see the world as it should be, appreciated for all the beauty it gives, I stop and smell the flowers now, literally, and it's changed me. I'm not in "cumbaya" land or anything, but I'm focused on things that really matter now, rather than the random negative thoughts that used to creep in and stay for extended periods of time. As a result of what I learned, I'm more passionate about my life and will never waste another minute, I've realized how precious my limited amount of time on earth really is.

I highly recommend this book! To those who seek answers to happiness and a more enriched life, Re-Entering Paradise reads like “A Field Guide to the Universe”. How quickly we get caught up in our own little worlds, like hamsters on a wheel. How do we stop this cycle? Dr. Robert Selman has developed this book to explain how “we have been sold a bill of goods” regarding our world and offers suggestions on how we can alter our thoughts and increase our awareness and attention to the world that surrounds us; thus improving and enriching our existence. Be it issues with our parents, unfinished business, feeling “out of sync” with time, or just a general feeling that “something is just not right”, this is your guide to re-discovering what it can feel like to be more alive, healthier and able to absorb and interact with the incredible world around us. Throughout the book, Dr. Selman shares personal experiences that help further explain and lend credibility to the concepts presented in each... More > chapter. I related to each and every experience which made me realize that I too, had the ability to “Re-Enter Paradise”.< Less
