This book simplifies war, its horrors, its motives, its intended and unintended consequences, good and bad, for easy consumption at home. The horrors are described graphically but without compassion. The pictures, that could have conveyed the horrors better are scrupulously sanitized. The effects on the psyche of the soldiers and the occupied are left unexplored. The reader does not get in touch with the heart of the matter, only with the mind. Still, it should be applauded for approaching the subject of war and dealing with it, however clumsily, than sweeping it under the rug. Vanya Ried
