Part personal story, part poem, part prayer, this book highlights how healing is possible! Brave. Honest. Humble. Spiritual. Moving. Rochael Soper shares her personal struggles and offers her stories of recovery as a gift of healing and hope to anyone going through a hard time. I was both moved to tears and inspired several times during while reading this book. I highly recommend it!

I too, love this book. I read the entire book in one weekend, then marked all the poems, pages and lines that I relate to in some way. I found that when I had finshed marking I had set aside almost every passage or poem in the book to re-read again and again. This is a meaningful and thoughtful book, and I recommend it to everyone! Congratulations to Ms. Soper!

Within a day or two of cracking open Rochael Soper’s book of poems: Out of Hell and Into Healing, a voice inside me *emphatically* said, “Add this to your ‘Morning Readings’!” - i.e., the little pyramid of wisdom- and recovery-books that I read from every single morning. (Just so you get a sense of the caliber of the other books that have at times graced ‘the pyramid’ - I’m talking about works by Julia Cameron, of The Artist’s Way fame, as well as texts by contemporary Buddhist masters such as Thich Nhat Hanh, and Pema Chodron.) And so, in the past three weeks, at least one poem by Rochael has graced each of my mornings, bringing me clear, cooling sanity, on a wide variety of subjects. (The book is divided up into such useful sections as “Relationship with the Self,” “Relationship with Others,” “Healing the Past,” “Self-Expression,” etc.) Then, as I go about my day, and invariably blunder into what Soper terms ‘everyday challenges,’ I’m oh-so-grateful that I’ve already had my daily... More > inoculation of insight, in poem-form! In this book, Rochael Soper ushers us into the hushed, yet highly charged inner sanctum, where the Self asks questions of the Soul - and the Soul answers back with just what we all most needed to hear. It’s a great help, and a great honor, to be privy to such communion.< Less

For me, one of the strongest touchstones in my creative process is the awe and inspiration I derive from reading or hearing people who are clearly channeling and using of language in elegant ways. I think that perhaps because I am a visual artist (photography) and not a wordsmith I find great comfort and joy in the verbal eloquence of others. Out of Hell and Into Healing by Rochael Soper is a poetry book that is a superb vessel for one such voice. Clearly stated and often deeply poignant about most aspects of life, this book of Rochael’s biographical sketches through both her difficulties and her triumphs is one for the bedside, a book to be returned to regularly. For those seeking self-transformation or those wanting to support others, this book offers great insight and map-able strategy for alligning oneself with the transformative Grace available to all for any number of life challenges, but especially to those with mental health struggles such as depression, trauma survival and... More > co-dependency. For me and at least one other close friend who struggles with chemical dependency histories, this book has been a God-send and a real source of strength for both of us.< Less

I love this book. It touches my heart every time I read a poem. I can relate in some way to each of these poems. They have so much meaning and depth. Every time I pick up this book I find just the right poem for my journey in that moment. It is a true gift to own this book and I refer to it often. It is a book I want to give to all of my friends. I recommend this book with gusto!
